Fish the 2008/2009 Season!!!

FISH THE INCREDIBLE, LONELY, and UNIQUE:
P A T A G O N I A !!!
around Nahuel Huapí National Park, San Carlos de Bariloche, and surroundings.
All-inclusive fishing trips arranged

(as mentioned in Angling Reports, April 2003, it can be a one-in-a-lifetime  experience!)

GUIDES:

A guide licensed by the National Park Service, is fully bilingual (having english as his mother tongue), guiding no more than two fishermen at a time.

AREAS:

Fishing the Limay River:
The world-famous Limay is the main river in our system, that flows through the entire Patagonia, and reaches to the Atlantic Ocean after joining with the Neuquén and forming the Río Negro.  The free-running Limay River, a stretch of about 50 miles is the section we fish, before it empties its waters into the first lake.. Fortunately, we  can admire this stretch in full. In this river, the biggest close to Bariloche, of gin-clear waters, we can fish the sought-after Rainbows, and fighting Browns. It is common to have the chance, especially at the beginning and end of the season, of catching some over 4 Lbs., and even some in the 8 to 12 Lbs. range, which makes it a very attractive stretch of water. Also it is possible to reach the closest of the private access stretches of this river, that allows a pleasant day, without a lot of fishing pressure.

Fishing the Pichi-Leufu River:
A river of outstanding beauty, in the arid Patagonia, with a winding run of ever-changing landscape, through a series of valleys dotted with volcanic formations. We get to the river after about 25 miles of a road built through a very attractive scenery, truly Patagonian, then bordering the waters, being able to choose the stretch we wish the most to fish. The fish population of this stretch of water is mainly of Rainbows, and some Browns, of which you can catch some over four Lbs., especially at the beginning of the season, when the temperature and water levels favor their habitat.

Fishing the Manso River:
This river is located about 35 miles away from Bariloche town, in a lush and varied vegetation area. It is one of the most important water flows of the region, that we wade or float, its peculiarity is that, after being born on the Eastern slopes of the Andes Cordillera, it turns west, crosses it and finally empties its water into the Pacific Ocean. We get to the area by ways of a paved road, then a very good gravel road that threads htrough the forests of Nahuel Huapí N.P., parallel to the river, with several access points where to place our flies. While practicing our beloved sport, we have the chance to catch Rainbows, Brookies and Browns, normally up to 3 Lbs., with some specimens doubling that figure.

Fishing the Traful River:
One of the important rivers that pour their waters into the Limay, is the Traful River, about 50 miles from Bariloche. Also to mention is the beauty of the landscape that surrounds it, with rocky formations carved by the action of the last glacial period and the winds over the centuries. When we have the opportunity of fishing the Traful, especially during early and late season, there is the chance of catching one of the powerful Landlocked Salmon (Salmo Salar Sebago),which migrate during their life cycle between the Traful Lake and the Limay river. Normally the size of the fish goes up to 4 Lbs., with some ranging the 6 Lb. mark, in Rainbows and Browns.

Fishing the Caleufu River, a float trip of 3 to 4 days, starting at the foot of the Andes, enjoying a breathtaking change of scenery, winding down towards the Patagonian steppe, you will have the chance to fish for wild browns and rainbows, mostly with dries and nymphs.

Lakes: Hess, Fonck, Mascardi, Traful, Nahuel Huapí, Los Moscos, (in every case from tubes, skiff-boats or rafts).

According to the time of arrival of your flight, there is the possibility of fishing that same day (1/2 day), depending on your lodging and where it is.

The guiding service includes transportation to and from the fishing spot, cold lunch (consisting of an hors d´oeuvres, entrée, main course, coffee or tea; wine, beer or soft drinks in a reasonable amount), and a snack (consisting of tea, coffee or a soda and cookies).

I specialize in Fly Casting for trout, even though we also offer trolling and/or spincasting excursions in those habitats where these modes are allowed.

You will be met at the airport upon your arrival, or picked up at the hotel, and your guide will be your company during your stay.

For the non-fishing companion traveler, this area has a wide selection of sight-seeing, horse-riding, rafting, birdwatching, ranch visits, paragliding, or you name it, half or day-long excursions, all in a breathtaking scenery (every day a different one), that you will enjoy reviving at the dinner table, making this trip unforgettable.

While everything is freezing, we are fishing!

Some interesting captions by visiting fishermen:

...this is like fishing 100 years ago!

...I can´t believe the strength of these fish!

...I was told you could experience a day without seeing a single cloud, but  never four days in a row!

...but we never saw another fisherman all day long!

...I couldn´t imagine water was so clear!

...come and experience all this and more by yourself!
